The Geraldton Primary School Languages Program, lead by Ibu Erlin, provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves into the language, arts and culture of Indonesia. The three interrelated aims of learning a second language are to develop knowledge, understanding and skills to help students develop linguistic competence, understand language and culture, and understand themselves as communicators. Opportunities for extension are provided to students who demonstrate aptitude towards learning an additional language, with a Junior and Senior Indonesian Extension class offered once a week.

The Geraldton Primary School Music Program, lead by Mrs Melanie Penny, provides students from Year 1 to 6 with specialist music instruction each week. The program is aimed at developing the appropriate skills for active participation in music making and appreciation in all children. This is through a variety of activities, including singing, listening, movement, composition, and instrumental work on percussion, ukuleles, recorders and keyboards. Children are given the opportunity to perform in the wider community and to view other performers.
Students are offered opportunities for extension by participation in the Junior and Senior Choirs, as well as the Percussion Group.

Students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 participate in specialist Physical Education lessons each week, where they are exposed to a wide variety of skills development, activities and games. The Physical Education program, lead by Mr Jason Bradley, focuses on the development of fundamental movement skills to enable children to enjoy playing many sports. Personal fitness is encouraged and supported by a daily fitness program. Students also have the opportunity to play both winter and summer sports and participate in interschool competitions. At a whole school level, students participate in formal swimming lessons, cross country and athletics events. Good sportsmanship is a key focus of the program.

The Geraldton Primary School Science Program, lead by Ms Diane Johnson, provides an opportunity for students to develop an understanding of important concepts, processes and the practices used to develop scientific knowledge. It is also about its contribution to our society and the variety of applications in our lives. Science is all encompassing across biological, physical and technological aspects of life. Through investigation, hands on learning, discovery, exploration and practical activities, students at Geraldton Primary School develop a strong basis for science knowledge and understanding throughout their schooling.

The Instrumental Music School Services offers an additional specialist music program for selected students in Year 5 and 6 where they can learn an instrument from either woodwind, brass or guitar. Students in Year 4 are tested each year to determine their aptitude for learning an instrument. The Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) program is a part-time withdrawal program for upper primary school Year 5 and 6 students in public schools. Identified students are selected to participate in differentiated programs offered in a range of delivery modes. Supporting Students with Educational Needs
Geraldton Primary School is committed to providing high quality educational experiences for all students, allowing them to reach their full potential.
Students requiring additional support in attaining literacy skills are able to participate in our Sounds-Write intervention program. Sounds-Write is a highly effective program that teaches the skills, conceptual knowledge and code knowledge which is essential for learning to read and spell successfully. In addition to this, all teachers and support staff are trained Sounds-Write facilitators, enabling the program to be taught in every classroom at Geraldton Primary School.
Our teachers are also trained using the Teach Well approach to instruction and learning. This approach implements high impact teaching practices, based on current leading research, to maximise student learning and retention in all areas of the curriculum.
